Event FAQs

Why should I race?

For survivors of violence, restoration can’t wait

When victims of violence are safe and protected, their journey of restoration can begin. But starting that process can often feel overwhelming. Thankfully, with access to resources and a faithful community of advocates, survivors can overcome obstacles that once felt impossible and move forward victoriously.

When you take part in the Race to Restore, you’ll be running alongside a community of justice advocates raising urgent awareness and supporting survivors as they reclaim their lives in freedom.

When is the Race to Restore?

You can participate in Race to Restore on whichever day works best for you!

Where is the event held?

With your community or in your own neighborhood, treadmill, or backyard!

Please be sure to follow your state’s recommended social distancing guidelines during the race.

What does restoration look like?

What survivors need on the road to restoration:

  • Immediate needs like food, urgent medical care, shelter, emotional support and trauma-informed care
  • Short-term needs like housing, basic food and necessities, access to community resources and pathways to employment
  • Long-term needs like sustainable housing, ethical employment, access to education and essential life-skills training
  • Psychological needs like empowerment, emotional support, decision-making skills and help with long-term planning

Restoration is a marathon. And every step is a victory.

Unlike marathons, restoration doesn’t have a finish line. For survivors, healing is an ongoing process that can often last a lifetime. But there is victory in every step of progress made towards functioning in society again. And every step forward is worth celebrating.

Do I have to run or can I do something else?

Though many people will be walking or running, we understand that you may want to move some other way. Go for it! You can bike, do pushups, canoe, roller skate or anything else. Regardless of how you move, the mission is still the same: raise awareness and funds to end violence and restore survivors.

How long is the race?

We're recommending that you set a goal that will challenge you, whether that's 1mi, 5k, 10k, or more.

What apps can I use to track my race?

"Map My Run," "Strava," and "Nike Run Club" are great options and easy to use.
