Running for Freedom: I'm training for a marathon, A MARATHON!
Help me reach my goal of $5,000 to support the work of IJM
I'm taking action to Fund Freedom!
A friend and his daughter were participating in Dressember and I said to someone, "I think I would rather complete a marathon then wear a dress everyday for a month." Then I asked myself if I really meant it. A couple weeks went by and I had my statement rattling around in my head. Then I felt the Lord nudge. I wasn't doing either.
That brought me to think of the millions of people trapped in slavery. Specifically it made me think of "the boys in the boat". In Ghana, children as young as three are enslaved in the fishing industry, forced to do hard and dangerous work to earn a profit for their masters. Ghana’s Lake Volta is the world’s largest man-made lake, covering 3,275 square miles, with thousands of children working in its massive fishing industry... I have two sons. I could no longer do nothing.
Now I'm training to complete a marathon, A MARATHON! I've registered to participate (and complete) Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, MN in June 2019. The whole reason I'm doing this is to raise money for International Justice Mission to support their work to fight human trafficking. Since IJM started 20 years ago, they have partnered with local law enforcement to free more than 47,000 slaves! I want to support that work!
I need your help. Will you please consider joining me by contributing to my goal of completing a marathon and raising $5,000 for IJM? Thank you
